Before connecting a client, confirm the protocol, Base URL, credential variable, model ID, and request path. Claude Code uses the non-/v1 endpoint; Codex and OpenAI-compatible clients use /v1.

Restart the client after changing environment variables and compare with a minimal cURL request.
